Corewell Health’s Grand Rounds: Transforming Health Care to Advance Health Equity event will highlight what’s needed to make health care tailored and accessible to all people regardless of where they live, their social or economic background, racial or ethnic identity, their physical or cognitive ability.
“Historically there’s a perception that health equity is really about addressing health needs of racial and ethnic minority groups. There are many, many health inequities we have to solve for: the inequity in rural and urban communities, the inequities our veteran communities experience.”
Lynn Todman, Ph.D. is Vice President of Health Equity and Community Partnerships. She says the discussion will center on the idea that responsibility doesn’t rest just with the healthcare system, or policy makers, or community agencies but rather a multi-layered approach is needed.
“They have to work together. They have to coordinate their actions to generate a real benefit and to close these inequities in health that present across our patient population and the communities we serve.”
Registration is required for the free event on Friday, October 18 from 2-3:35 pm, and there are several ways to view it.
Healthcare workers can earn continuing education units for attending.
