“This is a big shift. This is not a fad, it’s not a passing fancy. It’s something that’s going to be making an impact for years to come.”
Van Andel Institute’s Learning Specialist Ben Talsma will present the lecture Wednesday, exploring how schools can leverage AI to boost efficiency and effectiveness, and how instructional methods are adapting to include AI technologies.
“Thinking about the ways in which this impacts every area of life is important for us to start wrapping our heads around especially when it comes to education because those students are the ones who are going to be using these tools, hopefully for good purposes out there in the world.”
Talsma will also discuss VAI’s role in fostering ethical AI use in educational settings and interactive classroom games along with ways educators can use those tools.
“To save teachers time, another is to help teach more deeply than you could previously, and then also making sure we prepare students for a world in which these tools are going to be extremely prevalent.”
The public lecture Wednesday from noon to one is free to attend in-person or virtually and will include a question-and-answer session.
In-person guests can also take a tour of the VAI Education Center.
Registration is required and can be found on the Van Andel Institute website and social media.
