The event was hosted by Grand Action 2.0, a Grand Rapids non-profit economic development organization co-chaired by Dick DeVos and Carol Van Andel, also in attendance. Mayor Rosalynn Bliss said what happens here in Grand Rapids is rare.
“For economic development, business leaders, government leaders, philanthropic leaders and community leaders to come together and coalesce around a single vision for moving their community forward.”

Work has already begun at 201 Market Avenue, site of the former Grand Rapids Public Service Department. Acrisure, a Grand Rapids finance company, paid $30 million for the amphitheater’s naming rights. Co-founder, Chairman and CEO Greg Williams explained why Acrisure wanted to be a part of the project.
“The ethos of Acrisure is we want to do big, bold things. We want to be impactful, and this project certainly personifies and exemplifies that in every way. This is a big, impactful project.”

Carol Van Andel also spoke on the new Destination Kent campaign.
“That’s the name for the campaign to support the countywide hotel/motel excise tax ballot initiative set for August 6th. We need your yes votes on that date to help raise visitor-funded community assets to underwrite this project, and there’s a few more coming down the pike.”

The amphitheater is one of three major redevelopment projects planned over the next few years, including a professional soccer stadium and aquarium.
The Acrisure Amphitheater is expected to be open for the 2026 summer concert season.
