For the first time at a trial, school officials acknowledged they knew the teen had been at a shooting range and could have access to a gun

Oxford High School counselor Shawn Hopkins testified that he decided the teen could stay in class the day of the shooting because he didn’t feel he was a threat.

Crumbley’s defense attorney, Mariell Lehman, says after seeing troubling pictures drawn by the teen, neither his father nor the counselor could have foreseen the violence ahead.

LEHMAN “We know what happened within a couple hours of this meeting. It’s easy to look back and say that different decisions could have been made...right? HOPKINS: “I made the decisions I made based on the information I had.” LEHMAN: “At the time.” HOPKINS: “At the time.”

For the first time at a trial, school officials acknowledged they knew the teen had been at a shooting range and could have access to a gun.

But prosecutors pointed out Crumbley never told them he had just bought a new weapon for his son, the gun he eventually used to kill.
