Kentwood Police Investigating fatal crash that left a pedestrian dead

Kentwood Police are investigating a fatal car accident that left a pedestrian dead. They’re asking anyone with information to come forward.

Kentwood Police say around 8:30 Tuesday night they responded to a crash in the 25-hundred block of the East Beltline where a pedestrian was hit.

Officers determined that a sedan driven by a 41-year-old male from Grand Rapids, traveling south on the East Beltline struck the pedestrian who was crossing the road.

Police say shortly after that initial collision, the pedestrian was struck a second time by a vehicle that was described by witnesses as a new model, dark colored Ford F-150 pickup truck. They say the Ford F-150 left the scene of the crash without stopping and has not been located at this time.

The pedestrian was a 32-year-old male from Wyoming and was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional injuries were reported and no arrests have been made at this time. Alcohol and speed were not believed to be factors in the first crash

Anyone with information regarding the accident or the vehicle that left the scene are ask to call the Kentwood Police Detective Bureau. Anonymous tips can be made through Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
