GRPD says driver of fatal hit-and-run 'intoxicated' at the time and will be charged


Authorities say Trevon Poe, 27, dragged Gurchuran Sikh Singh, 30 for several blocks.

Grand Rapids Police said Wednesday that a bicyclist has died after being dragged for several blocks in a hit-and-run, while the driver of the vehicle has been charged in the biker’s death.

Authorities Wednesday said that 30-year-old Gurcharan Sikh Singh died in the hospital after witnesses found him lying in the street with extreme injuries before calling 9-1-1.

The hit-and-run incident happened on the city’s southeast side Sunday night around 10:30 PM.

Witnesses were able to describe the vehicle, and a few hours later police say they located and arrested 27-year-old Trevon Poe.

According to a press-release, Poe has been with driving while intoxicated causing death and hit and run causing death.

He is currently in custody and awaiting arraignment.
