Randy Lindquist has been named as the next superintendent of MAISD

Calling the new hire an “incredible honor,” Lindquist told WGVU Wednesday that Muskegon Area School’s best days are yet to come.

In a public meeting earlier this week, officials from the Muskegon Area ISD named Randy Lindquist as the district’s next superintendent.

An internal hire, Lindquist has been at the MAISD for over 15 years, having most recently served as the district’s Associate Superintendent for Academic Services.

Calling the new hire an “incredible honor,” Lindquist told WGVU Wednesday that Muskegon Area School’s best days are yet to come.

“The vision for the organization is to be the premiere source of educational programming services and leadership,” Lindquist said. “I would love to make sure we feed into that vision during my tenure as superintendent, so we're going to work very hard to meet district needs and help in any way we possibly can.”

Lindquist takes over the reins for outgoing Superintendent John Severson who recently took a job at the state level.

The new hire comes on the heels of some recent disappointment at the MAISD—as voters on May 4th rejected a millage proposal that would have helped fund the district’s special education services.
