Health Insurance Apprenticeship program launched in the fall 2021 semester.

Grand Rapids Community College is partnering with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and West Michigan Works! developing a paid Health Insurance Apprenticeship program.

It’s an earn while you learn approach launched in the fall 2021 semester. Enrolled students must complete a 430-hour overview of the health benefits industry. It adheres to State of Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services general agent licensing requirements.

GRCC President Bill Pink said, “The Health Insurance Agent Apprenticeship will allow students to learn about basic business as well as hands-on experience with the health benefits industry and skill-building topics. GRCC is proud to partner with the manufacturing, construction and other industries to help prepare the future leaders while lifting up our students into immediate careers”

The goal is to establish agents within a 14 to 24-month period.
