A prosecutor says no charges are planned after an officer fatally shot a man as police investigated an attack that left a 41-year-old woman dead in western Michigan.
Authorities say 43-year-old Lamont Gulley was threatening officers with a knife and attempting to stab a police dog April 8 in Kentwood when he was shot.
He died at a hospital.
Kent County Prosecutor William Forsyth says an officer fired two shots at Gulley.
The Grand Rapids Press reports Forsyth on Tuesday announced the results of the review of the case.
Officers approached Gulley after following footsteps in the snow from an apartment complex where Casey Kempker was found bleeding in an apartment.
Police say Gulley attacked Kempker and fled.
A 7-year-old boy was found unharmed in the apartment.
