Students have held a protest supporting teachers in a Lansing-area school district who are working under an expired contract.

The Lansing State Journal reports the march backing Grand Ledge teachers happened Thursday, which is when administrators and teachers' union representatives were set to meet again.

Students walked from one school to another, where more than 40 students waved signs while walking around the school before heading back to the other one.

The union turned down a tentative contract agreement last month.

For almost 10 months, teachers in the Grand Ledge district have worked under a contract that's expired.
