Local pastor elected Muskegon Heights council member

The city of Muskegon Heights has a new council member.

Residents elected local pastor Andre Williams, Jr. to serve the remainder of former council member Anthony McDonald’s term.

McDonald died last fall.

Williams was elected by a thin margin, beating fellow contender William Muhammad by seven votes.

Willie Watson came in third with 130 votes, according to unofficial election results.

A total of 459 votes were cast.
