Muskegon Heights City Council member Kim Sims is now the city’s Mayor-elect, beating out one former and two current council members.
Sims received about 36 percent of the vote, according to unofficial county election numbers on Tuesday night.
Sims was first elected to city council in November 2003.
Current council members Bonnie McGlothin and Eddie Jenkins III and former council member Dorothy Scott also ran for the Mayoral seat.
