Charges are expected in what authorities are calling a random murder near the Grand Rapids Community College campus.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says Marcus Lamar Bivins*, 19, was arrested on Sunday. He's accused of killing 34-year-old Jeanne Huntoon of Muskegon  near a GRCC parking ramp on Bostwick Street NE.

Arraignment is expected Tuesday.

GRPD Sergeant Terry Dixon says the killing appears to be random and not connected to GRCC. Authorities don’t believe the suspect knew the victim, and they don’t believe robbery was a motive.

"We have no reason to believe that there was a planned meeting, or anything like that," Dixon says. "[The suspect] encountered her, talked to her for a few minutes, and then stabbed her, assaulted her and killed her."

Huntoon’s body was found by police just after 2:45 a.m. on Saturday.

A witness reported seeing a male suspect dragging what appeared to be a body between a campus building and the parking lot.

Huntoon’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses.

*Editor's note: An amended complaint filed with the 61st District Court corrects defendant last name from Bivens to Bivins.
