The family of a 14-year-old girl who survived a mass shooting in southwestern Michigan says she has spoken her first word in nearly three weeks.

A GoFundMe page supported by the family says Abigail Kopf said "pig" on Thursday, and it gave her relatives "great hope" that she'll fully regain her speech.

Police say Abigail was among eight people shot in the Kalamazoo area on Feb. 20.

The suspect, Jason Dalton, is accused of randomly targeting people between shuttling passengers for Uber. He's charged with murder and attempted murder.

Abigail was shot in the head in a restaurant parking lot.

Four women with her were killed, as were two people at a car lot.

Another victim also survived.

Abigail was transferred this week to a rehabilitation center in Grand Rapids.
