This special screening will host a Q&A with Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling moderated by John Beavers from Slaptail Nation.  Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling may just be America's last great joke teller. His savant-like ability to remember every joke he's heard since he was eight years old, combined with his lightning-fast wit and infectious laugh, helped establish him as a comedy icon. Famous for being the head writer of the Howard Stern show for 15 years, and infamous for leaving that position, Jackie's story is fascinating, funny, and heartwarming. In an age of political correctness, Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling helps us belly-laugh at ourselves with kindness and sincerity that defuses his unfiltered punch lines. In this feature documentary we learn Jackie’s improbable story, from the fledgling days of comedy on Long Island, through his time as one of the “Beatles of Radio”, to his success as an author and actor. Willie Nelson, Penn Jillette, Billy West, Artie Lang, Marc Cuban, Sean Young and a bunch of former Stern show staffers give us their take on what makes him truly unique. Dear Diary follows four couples through group therapy, revealing their struggles with domestic abuse—physical, emotional, financial, and psychological. Through powerful storytelling, the play explores themes of generational pain, accountability, and healing.
The cast features actor Columbus Short, known for his roles in Stomp the Yard and Cadillac Records; Erica Peeples, who appeared in The Following, The Wedding Ringer, and CW's hit series All American as well as True to the Game; Drew Sidora from The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Step Up; Jamal Woolard-Biggie, famed for his portrayal of Notorious B.I.G. in Notorious and his role in All Eyez on Me; Tubi Actress Mena Monroe, known for If I Can’t and Queen of the D; Crystal the Doll from Hood Riches and Detroit Dreams; and Kaamel Diezel Hasaun, recognized for Undying Love and White Lies. Straight No Chaser brings their live Holiday Road Tour to DeVos Performance Hall on November 28, 2025.

Look up “holiday music” in the dictionary, and it’s likely that there is a photo of the nine-person a cappella group Straight No Chaser instead of a standard definition. For more than two decades, the group has provided the soundtrack of the season, bringing millions of fans to their feet while putting them in the holiday spirit. Year after year, fans anxiously await the moment they can officially hit play on Straight No Chaser favorites.

The nine-man act of Walter Chase, Jerome Collins, Seggie Isho, Michael Luginbill, Steve Morgan, Luke Bob Robinson, Jasper Smith, Tyler Trepp and Freedom Young has served as a festive blend of harmonious voices for more than two and a half decades, having recently celebrated their 25th anniversary.
