Drinking Water Faucet

A drop in water pressure is listed as the likely cause

On its website and Facebook page, the City of Wyoming lists the affected area as north and east of Buck Creek within the city limits.

The city says due to a drop in water pressure in a portion of the city’s water distribution system, bacterial contamination may have occurred… adding bacteria are generally not harmful and are common throughout the environment.

Corrective measures have been taken, and pressure has been restored.

But residents are advised not to drink the water without boiling it first. The city says these precautionary actions are being taken due to the loss of water pressure caused by a power and communications outage that occurred today.

The boil water notice will remain in effect until results from the sampling verify the water is safe to drink. The release says residents will be advised when the boil water advisory has been lifted. The city website indicated the advisory may be lifted within 72 hours.

More information can be found on the city’s website at www.wyomingmi.gov
