The Kent Area Narcotics Enforcement Team operated by the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from Wyoming, Grandville, and Walker Police Departments, recovered 11 pounds of cocaine, nearly 2 pounds of fentanyl, and a loaded handgun during a recent search warrant on Grand Rapids’ southwest side. The street value of the seized drugs is more than $1 million.
The suspect is a Grand Rapids man with a lengthy history of drug delivery offences, according to the KCSO.
In early March, the Grand Rapids Police Department announced the biggest fentanyl bust in the city’s history, with over 500 grams of pure fentanyl and 250 grams of black tar heroin recovered from an apartment complex on Wimbledon Drive.
In an email to WGVU, Sgt. Scott Dietrich with the KCSO said that there was no evidence that Kent County’s fentanyl bust was related to GRPD’s, and the investigation was ongoing as to where the drugs came from.
