GRPM joined museums nationwide in registering as a Blue Star Museum, a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums across the U.S.

As part of the Blue Star Museums initiative, the Grand Rapids Public Museum, or GRPM, will be offering free admission to active-duty U.S. military personnel and their families this summer.

The initiative begins on Armed Forces Day, May 18, 2024, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 2, 2024.

A news release says the GRPM joined museums nationwide last year in registering as a Blue Star Museum, a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums across the U.S. During the summer of 2023, the GRPM welcomed 738 visitors under this program.

Dale Robertson, President, and CEO of the GRPM, says quote, "The Museum is delighted to welcome active-duty military personnel and their families free of charge again this summer, as a token of appreciation for their service.” End quote.

The free admission program is available for those currently serving in the United States Military and up to five family members.
