Former USA Gymnastics president Steve Penny has been arrested after a Texas grand jury indicted him, alleging he tampered with evidence in the sexual assault investigation of now-imprisoned gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar. In a statement issued late Wednesday night, the Walker County district attorney's office in Huntsville, Texas, said Penny was arrested by a fugitive task force Wednesday in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and awaits extradition to Texas.

Dr Larry Nassar - a former doctor for Michigan State University athletics and USA Gymnastics - pleaded guilty in 2017 to felony criminal sexual conduct related to sexual abuse under the guise of medical treatment, with 125 reported victims, including Olympic gold medalists McKayla Maroney, Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, and Aly Raisman.

USA Gymnastics has established a fund that it says is designed to assist gymnasts who were victims of former sports doctor Larry Nassar. The organization's president, Kerry Perry, says the agency wants to provide the financial support for girls and young women to access counseling and mental health services. The Athlete Assistance Fund was announced Wednesday. 

Three retired star gymnasts have told a Senate committee of being sexually abused by USA Gymnastics officials. Olympic gold medalist Dominique Moceanu, bronze medalist Jamie Dantzscher and national champion rhythmic gymnast Jessica Howard were among those to testify Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee. 

Records show a Michigan State University doctor resigned in January after learning the school was considering her termination because she didn't disclose that USA Gymnastics was investigating Dr. Larry Nassar.

The Lansing State Journal reports that documents obtained from Brooke Lemmen's personnel file through the Freedom of Information Act reveal she also removed patient records at Nassar's request.

Nassar was a Michigan State and USA Gymnastics sports doctor.

A second woman says that the Michigan State women's gymnastics coach was aware of complaints of assault by a sports doctor who treated female athletes. Coach Kathie Klages was suspended Monday. New allegations against her were disclosed Tuesday by a woman who is seeking to join more than two dozen in a lawsuit against Dr. Larry Nassar.

A former sports doctor at Michigan State University is accused of destroying possible evidence in the months before he was charged with possessing child pornography.

The charge was added Tuesday to Larry Nassar's indictment in federal court in western Michigan. Nassar had a clinic at Michigan State until late summer and is a former volunteer doctor with USA Gymnastics.

Besides the child porn case, he's charged in state court with assaulting a girl at his Lansing-area home.

Four females have been added to a lawsuit that accuses a Michigan doctor of sexually abusing gymnasts and other athletes during medical treatments.

The lawsuit against Dr. Larry Nassar started with 18 women and girls two weeks ago.

The case now involves 22 after a new filing Wednesday in federal court.

Nassar faces other lawsuits, but the case in western Michigan is the largest.

He denies wrongdoing.

Law firm Drew, Cooper and Anding in Grand Rapids have filed a civil lawsuit in Federal Court accusing Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics of ignoring years of sexual abuse by longtime sports physician Dr. Larry Nassar as more and more women are coming forward claiming abuse. Currently, there are 18 women named as victims in the lawsuit, and that number may rise.

A former USA Gymnastics doctor and Michigan State University professor has been charged with criminal sexual assault. He was arraigned Tuesday.

Dr. Larry Nassar was the team physician for the MSU gymnastics program, and the doctor for the USA Gymnastics team for four Olympics. He faces three charges of sexually assaulting a girl who was under thirteen years old.

The alleged victim was not a patient or gymnast of Nassar’s.
