More than 20,000 children in Kent County do not have quality, affordable childcare. Families who do have childcare are feeling the cost impact, which averages $10,000 per year per child, while early care and education providers struggle to make a living wage.
Together West Michigan consists of individuals, community groups, faith communities, and nonprofits, collectively working to raise wages and create pathways to success for early childhood professionals and to make high quality childcare more affordable for families.
Joining us today are: Kate Robinson, Lead Parent Coordinator at Everbloom Montessori and Together West Michigan member; Pastor Banza Mukalay, Founding Pastor at Restoration Community Church and in-home childcare business owner; and Allison McCulley, Lead Organizer for Together West Michigan.
