Between birth and age 5, children experience the most rapid brain growth and development than at any other time in their lives. In fact, 90% of a child's brain development takes place by age 5. During this time, research has shown how impactful children's experiences are on their future well-being and success. Investments in early childhood programming, education, and services create long-term savings for communities in child welfare, in healthcare, education and law enforcement costs, and lead to a stronger workforce. The vision for Kent County's early childhood system is that "every young child in Kent County will enter kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed in school and life."
