West Michigan residents voted on multiple ballot proposals throughout the region Tuesday

In Kent County, voters said “yes” to the Zoo and Museum millage renewal funding John Ball Zoo and the Grand Rapids Public Museum with $124 million and $70 million over the next 10 years respectively.

East Grand Rapids residents said “no” to the construction of a new $9 million, three-story parking structure.

In Walker, voters rejected a new 10-year public safety millage allowing the city to fully staff its three fire stations with round-the-clock service and construct a new, larger police department.

Public school districts in Comstock Park, Rockford, Hudsonville, Grand Haven, Kenowa Hills and Kelloggsville all received school bond proposal approvals, with Allendale residents approving a $66 million bond for school improvements but rejecting a second $27 million bond funding the construction of a multipurpose school and community center.

Muskegon County and Byron Township voters rejected parks and recreation millages.

Ottawa County’s Jamestown Township residents said “yes” to a fire department millage proposal but gave a “no” to its road improvement millage renewal. Ferrysburg voters approved the street millage and charter proposal.
