The Muskegon City Commission provided updates on the Third Street Wharf project this week. It seeks to reimagine a 3.12-acre vacant property next to the Shoreline Inn, transforming it into a public waterfront park.
Residents have an opportunity to view renderings and offer feedback on potential site designs at an upcoming event. City Manager Jonathan Seyferth:
“And then we’ll use that public feedback to do the design process. This is very similar to what we did at Hartshorn and other parks throughout our process where we came with some ideas and then took the feedback that we got from the public.”
In August, the city commission agreed to pay Progressive Companies over $96,000 for project designs.
“We have met with Progressive who currently has bids out for time and materials, quotes that will be coming back, and those will be getting reviewed in the next couple of weeks so that we can move forward with the time and materials aspect of the project.”
The Third Street property is part of a land swap agreement approved in December with West Michigan Dock and Market Corporation, also known as Mart Dock.
The public engagement event is Tuesday, October 20th from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot across from Pigeon Hill Brewing Company.
