According to Grand Rapids Chamber data, the Acrisure Amphitheater has already attracted roughly 400,000 visitors to downtown Grand Rapids since opening May 15th. That’s higher than an initial estimate of 300,000 visitors.
Now, the International Entertainment Buyers Association, a live entertainment trade organization for industry professionals, has nominated the concert venue for its 2026 National Amphitheater of the Year. Other nominees include the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville and the Santa Barbara Bowl in California.
A recent Practical Polling Insights survey of 300 Grand Rapids registered voters shows the amphitheater receives an overall favorable public perception. However, 74% support the construction of a sound wall reducing noise impacting surrounding neighborhoods.
Three Plaza Tower condominium owners have filed a lawsuit claiming unreasonably loud noise coming from the venue on show nights. A Kent County judge recently ruled the venue must adhere to the city’s noise ordinance.
Attorneys for both sides are expected to argue their points at a later date.
