“This is more than just a venue. This is a place where the community will come and celebrate. There’ll be memories like you’ve never seen before. People will take pictures from anniversaries, weddings, everything, right here in this wonderful place.”
Lionel Richie joined community stakeholders in cutting the ribbon on Grand Rapids’ Acrisure Amphitheater before taking the stage as the venue’s inaugural concert headliner.
Joining Richie was Grand Action 2.0 Co-chair Dick DeVos.
“What does matter most to me is that this is a place where people are going to come together with family, friends, and neighbors to share experiences and create lasting memories.”
The $184 million, 12,000 seat publicly owned venue is expected to generate more than $800 million in economic impact, creating jobs and attracting more than 300,000 annual visitors.
Another Grand Action Co-chair, Tom Welch, emphasized the success of a project of this scale shows just how much the community stood behind it.
“It is the community’s nature to be creative, successful, and never finished. This is just the beginning. The Acrisure Amphitheater is open. It’s yours.”
