According to regional economic development organization The Right Place, its annual Tech Report indicates greater Grand Rapids placed second in the nation in high-tech job growth at nearly 22%. Stamford, Connecticut, came first with 39.5%.
Regional tech sector job postings have continued growing 25% from 2025 to 2026, with median advertised salaries increasing 8% from just over $95,000 to nearly $103,000. Job posting had been declining since 2022 but rebounded this year.
The report also shows that since generative artificial intelligence’s widespread release in 2022, regional job postings requiring AI-related skills has increased 84%, from 319 companies in 2025 to 464 in 2026.
Since 2022, Grand Rapids has created nearly 3,000 tech jobs, with projections indicating the region will end the year with just over 38,000 total tech jobs, ranking twelfth in the nation in tech job growth and sixth in tech worker concentration.
