The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Trump Administration cannot change rules around mail-in ballots for the upcoming midterm elections.
Democrat Gary Peters is happy about the ruling by the Supreme Court, but he doesn’t think the Trump administration will stop trying to affect the outcome of the election:
“They want to change the rules. They don't want free and fair elections. They want to do what they can to to undermine the credibility of our elections. So we have to be vigilant.”
President Donald Trump continues to claim the 2020 election was stolen from him, and frequently blames ballot counting in Detroit as a reason for his loss.
Citing long lines and a lack of provisional ballots in the 2024 election, the U.S. Justice Department sent election monitors to four Michigan cities including Detroit and Lansing for this year's August primary.
