During a Plainfield Township special public meeting Friday, the board voted to censure trustee Robert Reminga and requested his resignation.

The image of a “Hunting Permit For All Species, Types Of: Muslim” has been removed from Plainfield Township trustee Robert Reminga’s Facebook page. He denies posting it.

“That whole unfortunate disaster was not of my making, okay. Number two, I’m not going to resign.”

After the Plainfield Township board voted 4-1 to censure Reminga, with his vote in opposition, it asked him to resign. He declined.

“If you want me out of here, you’re going to have to vote me out.”

During public comments, dozens expressed their displeasure.

“Bob you are a coward; a liar and you are full of hate.”

“I’m asking you to resign. I didn’t go to Vietnam so you could be a bigot.”

“This is just a tremendous embarrassment for everyone.”

Tom Coleman is Township Supervisor.

“We did what we could today. That’s the only arrows in our quiver. We need you to do what comes next.”

“Bob is in for a world of hurt.”

During public comments, petition strategist Joe Spaulding laid out the recall process.

“If we recall him, we start that when thew snow melts after January. When that goes through, we’ve got 60 days to get the ink on paper. We will get the ink on paper.”
