Kent County Community Action is the agency dedicated to fighting poverty and stabilizing low- to moderate-income households. It’s investing more than $4 million into housing and community improvement projects this year.
Funding includes $2.28 million in HOME-ARP and Community Development Block Grant, or CDBG awards. Of that, $1.7 million supports tenant-based rental assistance programs through 2028, while $580,000 in CDBG funding helps nonprofit partners like the Salvation Army, Family Promise, and the United Way provide housing stability services.
Another $600,000 investment is supporting the construction of four new affordable single-family homes in the City of Wyoming, thanks to the county’s partnership with ICCF Nonprofit Housing Corporation.
The county is also partnering with AAA of West Michigan launching a $500,000 Senior Housing Renewal Program helping older adults remain in their homes during rehabilitation and accessibility improvements.
