It’s been a month since the Acrisure Amphitheatre in Grand Rapids opened, and seven concerts into the schedule some nearby residents are complaining about the noise, especially after the eleven o’clock curfew

“I don’t appreciate is having it in my living room with the windows open.”

Hal Froot says he can see and hear Acrisure amphitheater concerts from where he lives in Grand Rapids and he wants quiet after the 11 pm curfew.

“On May 27 concert ran long, ran until 11:15. Went to call GRPD and put a complaint in, a noise complaint. We don’t take noise complaints on the amphitheater.”

City manager Mark Washington says the May 27th Kid Cudi concert had permission to perform past eleven o’clock.

“We were noticed of their request for additional time so it was not unauthorized.”

But instead of permission Froot thinks performers who go long should be penalized.

“If they run late there are supposed to be penalties to that. What is the fine?”

Although she isn’t getting complaints about other concerts going past the curfew, commissioner Alicia Marie Belchak says she is hearing about amphitheater sound.

“Members of the community are being impacted by this. Down in the valley where I live, we were hearing it so this is a new feature of our community we will have to continue to monitor.”

“The squeaky wheel is here. I’m fighting back. All I want is good neighbors.”
