Grand Rapids city officials have set polling locations and early voting sites for the August primary election, but there are a few changes

Grand Rapids City Clerk Joel Hondorp says all 59 polling locations will be open and ready to welcome voters on August 4th for the primary election, but Precinct 9 on the city’s west side will change due to the closing of Stocking School.

“We’re going to be using New Vintage Place. Banquet facilities are not very busy on Tuesdays, so it’s going to be a win-win for New Vintage to open their doors to open their doors to their neighbors.”

And Precinct 51’s polling location is changing due to ongoing construction at Ken-O-Sha Park Elementary.

“They’ll be sharing a precinct with Precinct 46 at Brookside Christian Reformed Church.”

Hondorp says residents in Precinct 9 will receive new voter ID cards with bright green stickers, while voters in Precinct 51 will receive postcards detailing the changes.

“There’ll be three early voting sites for nine days for the August election starting on July 25th. In the First Ward, it’ll be Saint Peter and Paul School. In the Second Ward, GRPS University. In the Third Ward, Ottawa Hills High School. So, the same locations we used in the 2024 cycle.”

Inspector compensation was set at $150 per day for early voting chairpersons, $135 for e-pollbook inspectors and $120 for election inspectors, with higher rates for Election Day staffing and a $25 training stipend.
