Scene of Tuesday morning house explosion in Plainfield Township

Emergency crews have recovered a body as investigators work to determine what caused a home to explode in Comstock Park early Tuesday morning

A neighbor’s security camera captured the blast at 4 A.M. when a home on Rollaway Drive south of 7 Mile in Plainfield Township exploded, showing a burst of flame, smoke and debris.

Emergency dispatchers received more than 50 calls about the blast, reporting it was heard or felt several miles away.

Police and fire crews arrived to find the home was destroyed, and debris on fire.

Neighbors pulled an injured woman from the house who was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police are working to identify a deceased person found at the home, believed to be the man registered to that address.

Local, state and federal agencies are working to determine the cause of the explosion.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is asking neighbors to check their home security cameras for anything that may assist in the investigation and have a secure link to upload video at https://kentcountyso.evidence.com/.../rollawayplftwpfire
