After holding two work sessions and a public hearing, the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners advanced a unanimous recommendation made earlier this year by the county’s Parks and Recreation Commission.
The Parks Commission recommended a 0.53 mill, 10-year Parks and Open Space millage as outlined in the 2026 Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Plan, supporting ongoing operations and long-term planning.
Voters will consider two sperate ballot questions: a renewal and restoration of the current 0.33-mill Parks and Open Space millage for ten years on the August 4th ballot, and an additional 0.20-mill increase for ten years on the November 3rd ballot.
Should both ballot measures be approved by voters, the combined millage rate would total 0.53 mills from 2027-2036.
