A million-dollar state grant is kickstarting the F3 project in Grand Rapids to address housing shortages and stimulate economic growth.

The “F3 project” within the Boston Square Together development is a four-story, mixed-use building covering more than an acre.

The site will feature 45 new apartment units, commercial and public spaces.

The project has received a $1.3 million Revitalization and Placemaking or RAP grant which focuses on gap funding to clear financial hurdles in urban revitalization.

The building is part of the Boston Square Together Project, a redevelopment of 10 acres in the neighborhood increasing housing, providing commercial space for entrepreneurs, and community amenities.

The City of Grand Rapids is contributing a $400,000 grant as well toward the $25 million project.

The development is a collaboration between Amplify GR, Brinshore Development, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
