OK2Say works to educate and enable students to prevent or stop violence in their hallways by using the tip line.
In 2025, most of the tips OK2Say received were concerns about students struggling with anxiety, depression or stress. Next on the list was suicide threats, with both categories receiving nearly 2,000 tips each.
Mary Gager Drew is the department specialist with the Office of School Safety. She says these numbers are unusual, as bullying has generated the highest number of tips for the past three years.
"What I think is that they're also reaching out and trying to help somebody who may be struggling with these issues to get them the help they need."
Drew says while it's not great to be receiving these kinds of tips, it's ultimately a good thing. When a tip is submitted, it enables law enforcement and school officials to work together to ensure students are safe.
