The DeVos Medical Ethics Colloquy showcases a panel of experts in a thought-provoking discussion on current ethical issues in public health post-COVID.
Event chair Dr. Jeffery Byrnes is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at GVSU.
“One of our speakers will be focused on discussing challenges like vaccination, particularly mistrust around vaccination and the other speaker will probably take a step back further and discuss some of the seeds of that distrust and the way in which we can see the consequences of that increased distrust of healthcare and public health efforts in some of the data we have about the lives of Americans.”
The panelists will share insights and lead audience discussion on how to navigate a time of rapid change and uncertainty.
“I think everybody feels the weight of that and the speakers are going to try and spell some that out and give some data to illustrate it.”
Co-hosted by the GVSU Kirkhof College of Nursing and the Philosophy Department, the event is Monday October 13th from 6-8 at Loosemore Auditorium at Devos Center in downtown Grand Rapids.
