The Next Wave Campaign is a fundraising effort for the 12,000-seat, state-of-the-art venue that will host concerts, festivals, cultural performances and community events.
95% of the funding is in, with the bulk coming from grants, public investments, philanthropic gifts and private partners such as a $30 million donation from Acrisure.
Now the public is invited to invest. Individuals, businesses, and community groups across West Michigan can contribute on the Grand Action website with donations in any amount.
Campaign Co-Chair Tripp Frey.
“We want people to feel like they're part of it, like there are these key projects in the history of our city, using kind of this public-private partnership which has benefited the city and West Michigan so well. The public plays an important role.”
With a total project cost of $184 million, the publicly owned amphitheater operated by the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority will anchor future development along the east bank of the Grand River.
Leaders say the venue will host more than 50 events per season.
Over 30 years it’s projected to generate more than $800 million in economic impact, creating jobs and attracting more than 300,000 visitors annually.
Acrisure Amphitheater is set to open May of 2026.
