Life EMS Ambulance is expanding critical services with a new 24/7 facility in Allegan County

Life EMS Ambulance just opened a new 24-hour Central Support station east of the city of Allegan to support medical response and transportation for neighboring communities.

Company president Mark Meijer says the move will allow crews to better serve the area.

“We've been serving the greater Allegan city area for a number of years now and just moving our operation into a new facility gives us some more space and more capability.”

Life EMS operates two advanced life support ambulances out of the facility with a third ambulance now on-site in case of a surge in need and as medical standby for large events.

Meijer says the new facility is also designed to be more comfortable for ambulance crews with sleeping quarters, day room, full kitchen, office space and a drive-through garage design.

“We just need a little more space from a crew comfort perspective. Obviously that has to do with our paramedic EMTs having a great place to rest in between calls, those kinds of things, but also the capability to have a little more space for additional ambulance vehicles.”
