Just before midnight on Saturday, July 5th, troopers with the Michigan State Police responded to eastbound I-196 near the 44th Street overpass after receiving reports of a crash.

There, troopers found a 16-year-old male from the Grandville area who had been hit by a vehicle. MSP states the teen died at the scene and his name has not been made public.

Troopers are currently looking for the driver of the vehicle that hit the teen. No description of the vehicle has been released.

MSP is also looking for any information as to why the teen may have been on the highway. He is described as a white male with brown hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, gray basketball shorts and white Nike shoes.
