Commissioners expect to offer one of them the job this week

“We will conduct our interviews on June 12th.”

And after interviews Ottawa County Commission Chair John Teeples expects the board will select a new administrator.

“The hope is we will be able to make a final decision on the 13th.”

The three finalists scheduled for interviews are current Muskegon County Administrator Mark Eisenbarth, Lee County Florida Deputy Administrator Glen Salyer and retiring US Army colonel Michael Tremblay. All worthy candidates according to Commissioner Josh Brugger.

“The qualifications of these individuals there are some absolute all stars in here.”

39 people applied for the job. To keep their interest confidential their qualifications were reviewed, and finalists were selected during a closed session.

“There is nothing abnormal about that.”

But former board chair Joe Moss thought that process should be public, leading to this exchange with commissioner Jim Barry.

“I think it is important for the community to be able to give feedback. The community will have plenty of opportunity in public interviews going to be taking place. The community not being shut out of this process.”

The public is invited to a meet and greet with the candidates Wednesday. Interviews by the commissioners are scheduled for Thursday and a decision Friday.

“I look forward to interviewing these. I look forward to hiring a new administrator.”
