A Grand Rapids-based nonprofit mentoring young girls inspiring leadership and living a purposeful life is hosting its You Are Enough event Saturday for mothers and daughters

Mirror Me, Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to assure identity and inspire destiny in girls globally.”

Founder and CEO Sharalle Ankrah says its 7-week education and mentoring program for girls ages 8-11 partners with schools in Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Detroit, and even Ghana, West Africa.

“They find out ways to make an imprint on their community by making a community impact project at the end of our time together.”

The organization’s annual You Are Enough brunch focuses on mothers who often miss key developmental milestones in their daughters’ lives.

“The community’s that we serve, the demographic makeup, the mothers are often at work, they’re often single-parent households.”

The event encourages mothers and daughters to share time together through activities like painting, hairstyling, cake decorating and letter writing.

“It’s important that the mom’s voice is an anchor in her daughter’s development and spaces like this where it’s intentional, we can go ahead and allow that development for the daughter to thrive.”

The free event is Saturday, May 3rd at The Growth Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
