Three Grand Rapids nonprofits to provide sanctuary services to immigrant families

David Limbaugh

All three organizations say the announcement is in response to city leadership deciding not to officially declare Grand Rapids a sanctuary city

“We are proud to join forces with Movimiento Cosecha for a powerful day of action in support of undocumented workers and immigrant families.”

Lakila Jenkins is Executive Director at LINC UP, a Grand Rapids nonprofit that advances racial equality by expanding affordable housing.

“At our office, we are displaying a unified message: we protect our immigrant communities. This statement is not just a display, it’s a commitment to action.”

LINC UP, Movimiento Cosecha and GR Rapid Response to ICE announced they will provide sanctuary services to undocumented immigrants, offering resources to people facing deportation. Gema Lowe is a community organizer with Movimiento Cosecha.

“Whether to assistance, financial aid, or community mobilization, we stand with impacted families to insure they are not left to face these challenges alone.”

All three organizations say the announcement is in response to city leadership deciding not to officially declare Grand Rapids a sanctuary city, and they hope this announcement inspires other organizations to provide sanctuary resources as well.
