A Lansing-based nonprofit providing job training for people with disabilities has acquired a hydroponics farm in Caledonia

Peckham, a vocational rehabilitation nonprofit, has purchased Revolution Farms, a 3.5-acre hydroponic indoor lettuce farm.

Peckham provides job training opportunities for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. It operates a call center in Grand Rapids and three military apparel production facilities in Michigan.

The acquisition is a growth opportunity for Peckham and its existing Peckham Farms line of business: a 2.5-acre produce farm in Lansing.

Revolution Farms, founded in 2018, provides nearly 1.5 million pounds of salad greens to grocery chains, restaurants and hospitality groups throughout the Midwest each year. It grows produce year-round in a sustainable greenhouse environment using 90% less water and land compared to traditional farming methods.

A purchase price was not disclosed, but Peckham will gain about 30 Revolution employees through the acquisition.
