The city of Grand Rapids is one of West Michigan’s biggest recipients at nearly $1.5 million

Over the next few days, cities, villages, townships, counties and four tribes will receive payments from the state’s Marijuana Regulation Fund.

The fund will distribute more than $58,000 for every licensed retail store and microbusiness located within a jurisdiction.

In West Michigan, Kent County has the most at 39 locations receiving more than $2.2 million; 25 of those stores are in Grand Rapids.

Muskegon County has 27 for just over $1.5 million dollars.

Allegan County will receive more than $873,000 for 15 stores.

Ottawa County has four locations and will receive nearly $233,000.

The state treasurer says local entities and tribes can spend these dollars however they deem fit for their needs.

In addition to those disbursements, more than $116 million was sent to the School Aid Fund for K-12 education statewide and another $116 million to the Michigan Transportation Fund.
