With spring just around the corner, West Michigander’s thoughts may be turning to vacations on sunny beaches, and it turns out you won’t have to go far to visit one of the best in the world.
TripAdvisor.com recently released its Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best rankings for 2025, which lists the top 25 hotels, restaurants, activities, destinations and, of course, beaches in the United States.
Saugatuck’s own Oval Beach in Allegan County took the 24th spot out of 25 U.S. beaches.
Trip Advisor said of the beach, “It’s all about fine sand and scenic views at Oval Beach. There’s no bad time to visit this wonderful spot, plus there’s always ample parking here. Pair it with a trip to the Saugatuck Harbor Natural Area and you’re all set for a memorable day out.”
The Best of the Best title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel, awarding those spots who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Trip Advisor community over a 12-month period. Out of 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone.
Of the beaches listed, Oval Beach was the only one in Michigan, the majority being in Florida and Hawaii.
