“I think it’s a very interesting way to learn about history.”
Letitia Levi is with New Hope Baptist Church. She organized the all-day event partnering with Woodland Mall and the City of Kentwood.

Following a Unity Walk through the mall, New Hope will present its 11th annual African American Live Museum, entitled “Celebrating Legacy and Light” featuring 20 live performances of prominent, historical African American figures.

“Most of our acts are about 3 minutes long, and in that 3 minutes, you learn a lot about the life and the legacy of African Americans throughout history, and one of the really cool things that come to life is that African American history is American history, so we’re all learning more about our country and what built us.”

Both events take place on Saturday, February 22nd. The Unity Walk starts at 11 a.m. while the Live Museum begins at 1 p.m. and runs until 5 p.m.
