GR Fire Dept. wants resident feedback on latest strategic plan

The Grand Rapids Fire Department is updating its strategic plan, and you can be a part of the process

In 2019, the Grand Rapids Fire Department was one of the city’s first officially adopted strategic plans.

Now, the department is ready to update that plan, and it wants residents’ help.

Community members are invited to help shape the new fiscal year 2026-28 strategic plan by taking part in a fire service survey.

The survey asks about the community’s perspective and experiences regarding GRFD services. The department wants to hear from residents, neighborhoods and businesses about what it’s doing well, how it could improve, and what it should consider doing differently.

Grand Rapids Fire Chief Brad Brown says the department operates with a mindset of continuous improvement, and this survey will help them gather a better understanding of how they can best serve the community over the next three years.

The survey can be found here until November 30th, 2025. Based on survey responses, the new strategic plan will be adopted and implemented beginning July 1st, 2025.
