The CDC is warning consumers of whole and baby carrots from Grimmway Farms of California.

They say 39 people, including one person in Michigan, have become ill with E. Coli poisoning although the actual number of infections is likely higher.

One person has died as a result of the outbreak.

The carrots were sold under multiple different brand names, at major grocers. They include Target, Trader Joe's, Kroger, and Walmart

The CDC recommends tossing any recalled carrots and washing any surfaces they've been on with hot soapy water.

Grimmway's CEO says the company is undergoing a review of their growing and harvesting practices.
