Ottawa County Board of Commissioners retained a Republican majority, but voters elected six Republicans not affiliated with the conservative political action committee, Ottawa Impact

Ottawa County Board Chair and founder of Ottawa Impact Joe Moss soundly defeated his Democratic challenger, Jon Rabideau.

However, only three other Ottawa Impact-backed commissioners will be returning to their seats out of 11 districts, making Moss being named Board Chair again questionable.

In District 6, another Ottawa Impact-backed Republican, Kendra Wenzel, defeated Democrat Michelle Dieleman.

In District 8, Republican incumbent Commissioner and Board vice chair Sylvia Rhodea, an Ottawa Impact co-founder, beat Democratic challenger Rebecca Patrick.

And in District 11, another Republican incumbent and Ottawa Impact-backed Commissioner, Allison Miedema, defeated Democratic challenger Keith Courtade.

In District 4, Republican Jacob Bonnema, who previously cut ties with Ottawa Impact, defeated Democratic challenger Chris Crothers.

In District 3, Democratic incumbent Doug Zylstra retained his seat, while in District 2, Democratic incumbent Chris Kleinjans lost to Republican challenger Jordan Jorritsma, leaving Zylstra the lone Democrat on the Board.
