John Fitzgerald maintains 83rd District Michigan House seat

johnformi.com

Another key race last night was that of the Michigan House 83rd District, which had the potential to flip the House from Democrat to Republican

Incumbent State Representative John Fitzgerald, a Democrat from Wyoming, looks to keep his 83rd District seat in the Michigan House from former Republican State Representative challenger Tommy Brann.

The 83rd District represents southwest Grand Rapids, most of Wyoming and a portion of Cutlerville.

Fitzgerald had a sizeable lead over Brann for most of the evenings count.

Fitzgerald was appointed to the Wyoming City Council in 2020 as an at-large member. He was elected to his first term in the state House in 2022.

Democrats took back the state Senate and House in 2022. That was the first time in nearly 40 years the party had control of both legislative branches.
